As a matter of fact, several professional paranormal investigators lay claim that this is also the "most haunted" city in the nation due to the stories of real ghosts and unexplained phenomenon. The spirits are said to be particularly strong here due to the lengthy, often violent history of at least four hundred years! The Huguenot Cemetery

The Huguenot Cemetery is considered to be one of the hottest spots for real ghost stories and paranormal activity both by the locals and the tourists that travel to St. Augustine. One of the most popular ghost stories surrounding this haunted graveyard is that of the Judge by the name of John B. Stickney. While on a trip related to business in the year of 1882, this prominent individual was affected by typhoid fever and immediately died. His body was laid to rest in this cemetery. In the year of 1903, however, his body was exhumed in an effort to be located where his children lived. It was then that several gold teeth were said to have been taken.

Today, this judge is believed to be the "man in the tree". In addition to this, it is believed that he paces the grounds of the Huguenot Cemetery on a regular basis. It does appear that he is in search of something, and many believe that it may be his teeth, while others believe that perhaps he is just lost. There is another spirit that seems to linger in the cemetery with the ever-popular judge, and that is a man by the name of Erastus Nye. Throughout this website, you will learn more about the ever-popular Huguenot Cemetery and the spiritual encounters that have been said to occur there.

The St. Augustine Lighthouse
